Once you’ve made pasta from scratch, you’ll never want to eat the dehydrated packet stuff again. It’s really easy, no fancy ingredients, and it’s fun! I knead the dough in the breadmaker (on the pasta dough setting) and then put the dough through our juicer using the spaghetti or fettuccine attachment, but you can just as easily knead it by hand and put through a pasta maker or even slice it by hand too.
- 220mL water
- 1 tbs (20mL) olive oil
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 2 cups flour (can use plain or wholemeal)
- 1 cup semolina
Add all ingredients to breadmaker in the order listed, and use pasta dough (or just dough) setting. Alternatively, knead by hand, but I’ve never done it that way and can’t give advice on how to best knead it.
Make spaghetti (pictured) or fettuccine by using a juicer attachment, pasta machine, or rolling it out and hand-cutting.
Boil a large pot of salted water. When water has boiled, cook pasta for just a couple of minutes (it’s a much shorter cooking time than packet dehyrated pasta). Drain, and serve with your favourite pasta sauce (try the Creamy Avocado Pasta Sauce or the Pomodoro sauce from this recipe) or just drizzle with good quality olive oil and fresh basil leaves – yum!
